Polar Vortex

Like most of the rest of North America, we here in Cape May are currently shivering, no thanks to the massive polar vortex that sped across the continent like a freight train. The very low temperatures -- and the fact that I managed to leave my winter coat in Ecuador in December -- means that today's picture is a bit fuzzy, because I took it through the windshield rather than risk frostbite by stepping outside. Even the gulls (well, most of them) weren't flying. Instead, they were huddled together on the beach, facing into the brutal wind while the waters of the bay roiled and crashed behind them. Let's just say, I'm glad I wasn't making a ferry crossing today!
